Snowless in Seattle

Well at least it used to be. 

It doesn’t really snow in Seattle. When it does several things happen. First, it’s usually a inch or so. Second, it’s typically gone by noon. Third, no one bothers to remove it—no equipment anyway. Nonetheless, the schools all shut down and the drivers can’t keep their cars on the road. 

It’s been differently the last several years. Much more snow and the much colder weather keeps it around a while.

Marketing 101

A client asked me recently if this current economic mess was a time to increase marketing dollars or not. Well, it all depends and you never can tell.

The point is there is only futility in trying to use a one size fits all approach to marketing—actually to anything.

She was asking about advertising and public relations dollars I am sure. When many think of marketing, that’s what they imagine and it is certainly part of it, but not all.

Riding the submarine

I have gotten a lot of direct feedback on my recent post on Business Cycles. Some have even said that I am gleeful about the current Wall Street and financial sector turmoil.

That’s not quite it. 

I do feel that uncertain times are the ones most abundant in new opportunities.

That’s why I am such a believer in navigating the ocean in a submarine. That’s why I believe in using a modern torpedo instead of an old WWII version.

Caught in the cycle? Who me?

It would be easy enough for all of us to become very discouraged in the midst of all the economic news.

Economic growth is not steady Eddie. It is rather a continuing drama of periods of expansion followed by periods of contraction. This cycle repeats. Not in a regular pattern however. And, the periods can be long or short. All of this is commonly referred to as the business cycle.

Peru is booming

As many of you are aware, I have a core client with operations in Peru. Grupo Innova is the development arm of NDG Investment Group. They are major players in real estate development in Peru. I will tell you more about them in later articles. For now, I want to tell you a bit about Peru. It will help you get a keener realization we are in a world economy.

First, dispel any notion you may have about how poorly the economies of the world are doing, the USA for that matter, when it comes to Peru.
